River and Dining Cruises

st johns river cruise

We actually learned about things we saw from other pax once back on the ship. Conveniently located approximately 40 minutes from Daytona and Orlando, our boat tours are a refreshing change from the usual tourist paths. So whether you're a birdwatcher, a fan of alligators or manatees, a nature photographer, or are just looking for something a little different, our St. Johns riverboat tours may be just what you are looking for. River tours must be cancelled no less than 24 hours before your scheduled tour start time to be eligible for a full refund. No call no shows will not be eligible for a refund or re-book once the scheduled tour time has past.

Guided Boat Trips/Eco Tours

If lightning is reported within 5 miles of the launch area, your tour guide will postpone or cancel the trip, depending on weather reports. If the trip is cancelled by Blue Spring Adventures for any reason (including weather), a full refund will be issued. If lighting is not detected, but the guest decides to postpone, the trip will be re-booked to a later time. We are located at the docks at the end of the main park road (lower parking lot).

Florida

The package includes a 1 night stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, located on the riverfront and steps away from the dock. While the city of Saint John has a old-world quality about it, the Bay of Fundy is an attraction in its own right. Designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the Bay is home to the highest tides in the world. If you're lucky enough to be there as the tide comes in, you'll see the waters rise as much as a 4 storey building!

See the Real Florida!

Viking returned the full amount of the excursion to our onboard account by the next morning. You will have to look long and hard to find a cruise line more fair than that. This is one of the things that keeps us spending what travel funds we have with Viking. We did the included excursion and had a hopeless guide, so our review would not have been favourable. The ship has five decks and can accommodate up to 194 guests, making it suitable for hosting events of varying sizes. We are a community driven blog that promotes the Historic Downtown Sanford District in Central, Florida as a food & beverage destination to a global audience for tourism, film locations, community events & investment.

Great Rivers of Florida Cruise

Heritage River Tours offers two-hour eco tours which depart from Hontoon Landing Resort & Marina. Cruise down the Hontoon Dead River, cross through a beautiful old logging canal back to the St. Johns and pass Blue Springs State Park, a popular place to spot manatee. Watch for birds, alligators, manatee, turtles, and more as you experience the scenery of old Florida. Tours depart rain or shine, so please arrive prepared with a poncho or raincoat.

Cruise & Events Calendar

The price of your vacation includes accommodations, meals, many beverages, onboard entertainment and shore excursions. Departing for Green Cove Springs, enjoy an onboard welcome reception as we cruise along the waters of St. Johns River. Distinguished as an American Heritage River, it is one of only three rivers in the nation that flows north.

Along the route, you'll see quaint towns and plantation homes along with areas like Lake George and Ocala National Forest that are teeming with wildlife. Trips eligible to be re-booked may be scheduled up to one year out from the original departure date. Family-owned and operated, the St. Johns Rivership Co. is the latest in a long line of sternwheelers that have been serving and sailing the St. Johns River for centuries.

Things To Do in Saint John – New Brunswick

Witness many spectacular sites, including a rare glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean, visible over the Barrier Islands. Join our onboard naturalist on the open observation decks for views of native wildlife, captivating sunsets, hidden villages, and miles of pristine landscapes. Once known for its worldwide shipping commerce of citrus and timber, Palatka attracted a number of wealthy northerners looking to relocate to a warmer climate. Today, it remains a charming river town with grand homes that stand as a testament to distinguished residents that once called Palatka home. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the beautifully landscaped Ravine Gardens State Park. Reversing Rapids – see this amazing phenomenon when the Saint John River meets the high tides of the Bay of Fundy.

Hopefully, you reported your experience so that particular guide could be weeded out of the program. Of course, there is always this forum, but not everyone has done each excursion, so comparison shopping is hard.

The Rivership Barbara-Lee is an authentic sternwheeler that sails the St. Johns River. The ship measures 105 feet from stem to stern and was built in 1986, refurbished in 2012 for its inaugural St. Johns River cruise. Featuring ornate wrought iron railings and wooden paddle wheels, the Barbara-Lee exudes the elegance of historical steamers on the St. Johns River. Daniel R. Lewis is an Attorney, Realtor, and entrepreneur who is one of Sanford’s most prominent business leaders. Travel along one of the most impressive stretches of inland waterways in the United States, the Tolomato River.

Undoubtedly the best treatment we have ever received on any tour, anywhere. The Barbara-Lee uses diesel engines for the twin paddlewheels, ensuring safety and reliability compared to traditional steam engines. The St. Johns River has a rich history, dating back to the early 1500s when it was explored by Europeans. Steamboats were first known to sail the St. Johns River in the 1830s, becoming a vital link between north and central Florida. Tourism to Florida boomed in the late 19th century, and Jacksonville became a gateway to the warm winter retreats in Central Florida.
